Ad expenditure may go up by 5.6% in 2006: Universal McCann

Robert J. Coen, senior VP Universal McCann, has predicted that advertising expenditure is likely to grow 5.6 percent in the year 2006 in comparison with the previous year. Earlier, he has predicted increase in ad expenditure at 5.8 percent in the last December.

Though many factors are responsible in the down gradation of the forecast, but most prominent factors are the auto and pharmaceutical companies, that have fuelled the growth from mid 1990s, and have considerably cut their ad expenditure.

However, there are chances that spot revenue will increase by 8.5 percent this year as it fueled by political advertising.
