A gruesome new anti-smoking commercial will show a man to have his gangrenous foot amputated. The new ad hopes to scare Australians into quitting, links smoking to onset of gangrene and possible limb amputation.



The campaign, which is set to release in South Australia, shows a surgeon using a pen to mark a cut above an older patient’s gangrenous foot. A nurse then checks out the surgical equipments and puts the tray next to the patient’s foot. The tray includes a horrifying bone saw.



South Australian Government is supporting the anti smoking campaign and will spend more than $20,000 for it. Substance Abuse Minister Gail Gago said,

Tobacco smoking remains the single biggest cause of premature death in this state,...It is responsible for 1,500 deaths each year - 10 times the number that die from motor vehicle accidents, and 12 times the number that die from using illicit drugs.
