This is a print advertisement from Bayer to promote its mosquito repellant using an Indian mythological goddess. The concept and the idea is beyond doubt excellent however, using mythological goddess in the ad may trigger controversy. Here the goddess has been depicted with several arms as she has been depicted traditionally but the second frame shows that when Bayer’s effect comes into play the goddess does not need several arms to keep mosquito away and your hands are free.
It is difficult to ascertain whether the admen responsible for the ad were aware of the entire knowledge about the mythical goddess depicted in the ad but it may invoke some religious sentiments. Here the question whether using mythological and religious figures, which are close to many religious hearts, in the advertisements is ethical.
The advertisement has been created by JWT, Paris.
