Google-Yahoo Internet search advertising partnership put on hold

Jaiyant CavaleSep 9 2008

If we thought that a Google-Yahoo partnership would be a good strategy to combat the monopoly of Microsoft, many think otherwise. If such a partnership occurs, the Google-Yahoo group would be controlling about 90% of online advertisements. The Association of National Advertisers has officially objected to this Internet search advertising partnership as it may diminish competition, increase concentration of market power and increase pricves for online advertising. Though Google insists prices will be auctioned in a competitive manner and that it would help both consumers and advertisers, the partnership has been facing criticisms from many. Though Google and Yahoo are not legally implicated and don't have to wait for anyone, they have apparently put the planned partnership on hold for 3 and half months. It would be interesting to see what the outcome of such a feud and disagreement would be.
