This is an interesting guerilla advertisement campaign at the Spanish coastline launched by Greenpeace Spain to create awareness about dumping of toxic waste and unplanned development. The campaign was evidently designed to compel people to think in this direction and making them feel that human actions are more responsible for the degradation of seas. A number of lifeguard’s chairs were placed along coastline facing towards the land rather than facing sea. Onlookers and passers-by were naturally astounded to see the ‘lifeguards’ (who in fact were Greenpeace volunteers) looking in the opposite direction to normal.

The presentation of the campaign was essentially effective as it was capable of attracting immediate attention of people visiting coastline. It was a very innovative and fresh idea to disseminate an important message in public and environment interest. The message of the ad reads, ‘Time to start looking at the real danger’. The campaign was created by Tiempo BBDO, Barcelona.
