IBM makes a play for MS customers, rolls out $300 million ad campaign

What makes you special? IBM the number two computer software maker is all set to offer its customers a rebate of $20 per seat. When everyone goes gaga over Google's future (and monster) expansion plans Bill Gates himself said that he considered IBM to be a bigger threat to Microsoft than the search engine giant.

And now in a true dog-bites-dog competitor style IBM wants to lure away Microsoft's clientele with its 'Migrate to Penguin' ad campaign. IBM with this massive $300 million Move2Lotus advertising program (almost half of its annual ad budget of $632 millio is at stake) tries to facilitate the customers who switch from Microsoft Exchange to its own Lotus Notes and Domino under Linux.
