When almost all newspapers saw year on year circulation declines, Daily Star increased its circulation by more than 6%. The publisher of Daily Star, Express Newspapers, slashed the cover price to 20p and it helped in increasing the circulation.

The Star, which climbed 6.3% year on year, had an average circulation of 768,534 in January due to this intelligent move.
