Selling insurance through humour

You can crack jokes while you are selling a car. You can be humorous when you are selling condoms or helmets. This hilarious way of advertising is being used by many brands. However, when you are selling an insurance service you must be serious, because you are on business. That was the common perception and trend in advertising for insurance services for a long time. Humour was considered to be a strict no-no in Insurance advertising. But, that trend is changing, and insurance companies have begun to make people laugh to sell their services.

We have seen how an insurance ad portrayed an imperfect world where even a cupid’s arrow can mistakenly break your car window. Now, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies also accepts this humorous way in their print advertisement campaign. One ad shows a happy woman who stands in a verdant field and shakes open a red sheet to spread on the grass. But she doesn’t notice the impending danger in the form of an agitated bull in the background.

Who insures you doesn’t matter, reads the copy. Until it does.

The campaign, developed by the Levinson Tractenberg Group, shows persons who are unaware of the dangers. The noticeable aspect of this campaign is its humorous treatment.

Nationwide is also adopting the comic route in its Life comes at you fast campaign. The campaign shows unpredictable situations where you can loss your money and property.
