Some advertising initiatives, though their reach may be within a limited circle, are creatively superior. This advertising initiative for Removing Barriers Movement is one example for this fact.

Removing Barriers Movement (RBM) is an Istanbul based movement which stands for international human rights. This advertising effort from McCann Erickson Istanbul, aims to make awareness among the public about the difficulties faced by the visually impaired people.

The effort points out to the problem of the lack of publications for the blind with braille and vocal support. A book is placed on popular bookstores’ best sellers shelves. When the customers open the book, they will find a completely blank book. The message which is placed on the side cover reads- The barrier is something just a book. In Turkey, the ratio of books specifically published for blind people is strikingly low. Are you aware?
