50 Cent’s latest advert for the latest film Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ gets a blow from the commercial ad industry watchdog Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for glamorizing violence aka gun crime.
Cutris 50 Cent Jackson , the cool Hip hop star’s naked tattooed back is seen in the ad with a gun tucked into his jeans. Over 50 Cent’s shoulder a baby’s face is also visible (see image).
In Britain 17 people who found the ad offensive and irresponsible have complained against the ad to ASA.
Universal Music Group’s spokesperson while defending the ad says the poster only depicts 50 Cent’s struggle in the hardened streets of New York and how he came out as a winner of it.
After investigating the complaints, the ASA found the poster in breach of advertising rules relating to social responsibility, decency, violence and anti-social behaviour and children. UMG has said that the poster is no longer in use.
