Google has been overcharging advertisers for last four years and has now agreed to cough up $90 million to settle the claim. Click fraud advertisers must be feeling chilled terror in their spines because it’s not the claim actually they are looking forward to surely. It’s more about trust and goodwill. Its about multi million opportunities to small to large corporations. The essence of the model seems in total trouble. At least in advertiser’s mind if not to Google scientists and account executives.
The proposed settlement, company officials declared on Wednesday, would apply to all past advertisers of Google for the last four years. Even if a website shows unnecessary charges which goes back to as far as 2002 will be entitled for an account credit. Googly may use the ads in future. An advertiser who thinks is a victim of click fraud will get back his money under the settlement, which requires a sanction of an Arkansas judge.
